reminder - gra penalty rate increase from October 1

PENALTY RATES INCREASE FOR CASUALS FROM 1 OCTOBER 2019 UNDER THE GENERAL RETAIL INDUSTRY AWARD
Members are reminded that in accordance with a decision of the Fair Work Commission in 2017 there were incremental increases made to the Monday to Friday and Saturday rates, over a period of 3 years, for casual employees employed under the General Retail Industry Award.
In addition to the earlier incremental increases, as previously advised, the Monday to Friday rate after 6pm will increase from 30% to 35% as from 1 October 2019 as decided by the FWC in 2017.
In addition to the earlier incremental increases, as previously advised, the Saturday rate will increase from 40% to 45% as from 1 October 2019 as decided by the FWC in 2017
Please note that there will be a further increase of a further 5% on Monday to Friday after 6pm and on Saturdays for casuals from 1 March 2020 as decided by the FWC in 2017.
There will also be a further 5% increase for work by casuals on Monday to Friday after 6pm as from 1 October 2020 and a further 5% on March 1 2021.
