Providing reliable, thorough and detailed technical timber information is a paramount component to the ongoing success of your organisation. There may be times when either you or your staff are unable to respond to a technical query or locate the appropriate timber reference.
MGA TMA understands the importance of supporting service of this nature as part of your membership and assisting you, and your staff, with timber product and application queries that may arise.
This is a member-only service and will ultimately provide all MGA TMA members with access to an advice service that comprises of:

Senior Technical Advisors
Providing this advice is Wood Products Victoria’s senior technical advisors.
Dr Alastair Woodard
Alastair has spent 30 years working with timber technical market promotion industry associations, and prior to this was a consulting structural engineer. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Structural) degree and a PhD in timber engineering.
Alastair undertakes a wide range of technical and market development related activities for numerous timber industry organisations. He has extensive experience in the design and specification of timber structures and a particular interest in the design and development of new and innovative construction systems and environmentally sustainable building materials.
Boris Iskra
Boris has had more than 30 years of direct involvement in assisting the Australian forest and wood products sector with technical issues and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Structural) degree and a Graduate Diploma in Building Fire Safety and Risk Engineering.
Boris has represented the timber industry on a number of Standards Australia’s Technical Committees including (previously) the TM-002 Timber Framing and TM-006 Timber Preservation and Durability committees. He is actively involved in the drafting of technical guides, informing designers, specifiers and regulators in relation to timber engineering through to bushfire compliant solutions.
Wood Products Victoria (WPV)
The goal of Wood Products Victoria (WPV) is to ensure that sustainable timber and wood products grown, harvested, processed, manufactured or sold are supported by:
- Informed research
- Credible technical publications
- Comprehensive customer information and
- Positive product and market development
The WPV Board includes representatives of timber growers, manufacturers, distributors and retailers who wish to ensure the ongoing viability of this sustainable, natural building resource.
