national qualification review
22 July 2019
HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE NATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR TIMBER MERCHANDISING
The national qualifications of timber merchandising industry will be reviewed and re-developed through consultation over the next 12 months. These qualifications are:
- Certificate II in Timber Merchandising
- Certificate III in Timber Merchandising
The members of the MGA TMA are invited to have their say on the future of these qualifications and be part of this process. It is important to provide input and share our vision for skills development in our timber and hardware industry.
The review will seek answers to four critical questions:
- Do the current qualifications meet the skill needs of the timber merchandising industry?
- What changes in technology and workplace practices are impacting on the skills needs of our industry?
- Do the qualifications support career development in our industry?
- Does the current delivery of these qualifications meet the needs of individuals and businesses in our industry?
If you would like to be involved in the review and re-development of the timber merchandising qualifications, please register your interest with
Dr Georgiana Daian at gdaian@forestworks.com.au by Wednesday 31 July 2019. ForestWorks will facilitate the review and consultations.
As a participant, you will contribute by:
- Telling your views on the skill development needs, job roles and critical tasks and activities performed by people working in modern timber merchandising operations
- Reviewing and offering comment on draft materials
- Sharing review materials with other experts.
The qualifications are used by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to develop, recognise and assess the skills and knowledge needed by people to perform effectively in the workplace.
